Although there is no hard and fast rule, it is a good idea if all investigation programs written using the CRL have the standard program format, as illustrated in figure .

Adhering to the standard program format allows the production of well structured and easily followed programs. This will make program analysis and development simpler; a well set out program is easier to understand and debug, for yourself as well as for others. Anybody returning to a program after an interval of even a few weeks can testify to this truism. All of the test routines supplied with LUTEar follow this standard format, as do the examples described below.
