Pre- and post-doctoral positions are currently available in the Basso Lab to conduct science experiments exploring the development of a non-human primate model of deep-brain stimulation therapy that is used to treat Parkinson's disease and dystonia. A position is also available to examine the control of volitional eye movements and the role of higher perceptual and cognitive factors in the generation of action. We are part of the newly established Movement Disorders Clinic, comprised of clinicians and basic scientists in the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Physiology. As such, candidates will also have opportunities to participate in ongoing clinical projects with our population of movement-disordered patients. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in a Neuroscience-related field. Experience with electrophysiological or behavioral techniques is advantageous.
